Invasion: a violation, an unwelcome intrusion.
In 2020 Corona invaded our country. From there, it invaded states, and finally, our cities. It failed to stop there and invaded our hospitals and many of our homes. It got in our personal space and violated us. It took many family members. Our stores and goods, restaurants, and businesses suffered from the COVID invasion. It still has not gone away completely. It has left its mark. We now will have to live with it indefinitely. The battle ensues while fear promises defeat.
Simultaneously, cancer invaded our lives on a personal level. It has attempted to seize control of my husband’s body. It has violated our family and our marriage and left its mark on his workplace. It has pierced our hearts and souls. It has caused hospital stays and numerous doctor visits and treatments. He has a roadmap of deep physical battle scars of a heroic warrior over his body. We are not alone. 1.6 million people are diagnosed with cancer yearly, according to the CDC. The battle ensues while fear promises defeat.
Ukraine and Russia are now in a full-blown territorial war. Pain, horror, and inhumanity bombard the news. Devastation is current and innocent lives have evaporated as if they ceased to exist. Destruction leads the way. Peace is unknown. Now far beyond the reach of the two initial enemies, NATO aims to even the playing field. The battle ensues while fear promises defeat.
These are but a few of the many horrendous physical battles in this current world. But the most significant struggle is the darts swiftly aimed at our minds. It’s all too easy to drop off at the mind station of doubt. Mind invasion is actual, and we must protect our thinking. If Satan hasn’t played in the playground of your mind, you are stronger than me. We must prepare for that battle as if it were taking place on the ground but realize our thoughts, words, and beliefs are what provide this kind of victory. Three words can help reset our sense of being overwhelmed and in despair.
REPEAT with me: DO NOT FEAR! According to bible commentaries, “FEAR not” is in the bible 365 times. Is it coincidental that there are 365 days in a year? Repeat this with me as if we embrace it with our whole being. Repeat this with me as if we would never second guess its promise. Repeat this with me: for the world, for your sanity, for mind protection. Thousands of years ago, we were warned of such things as disease, wars, and personal struggles. While it feels so scary, it is reassuring that scripture holds this power of prediction and promises.
While I struggle with all of this, I am doing what I have shared with you:
DO NOT FEAR! DO NOT FEAR! DO…
(and I’m delving into my good book to find the diamonds, the pearls, the promises).
Hoping you find a place in my space. ♥
Reflection Question:
What promise of the bible is your favorite? How does it protect your mind?
